Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Not a fit if: Women; adult men seeking support for a primary mental health concern; requiring withdrawal management; needing ongoing medication monitoring; seeking intensive psychiatric care; needing to maintain remote employment or have regular access to a cellphone or laptop.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Initial screening: The person seeking treatment must participate in the screening process. This screening covers substance use history, previous treatment, medical and mental health needs, and readiness for treatment.
  • Collaborative treatment planning: Licensed clinical staff collaborate with clients to create written treatment plans based on assessment findings. Client strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences are also considered, and plans are reviewed approximately every 30 days.
  • Relapse prevention planning: Licensed staff start working with residents at admission to identify triggers, warning signs, and coping strategies and determine preferred interventions.

Who you will meet with

  • Licensed addiction counselors: Licensed addiction counselors meet with clients once a week for individual sessions and lead therapeutic groups. If needed, clients can request additional sessions with their counselor.
  • Direct care staff: Staff members provide oversight, including in the evenings, overnight, and on weekends.
  • Alumni mentors: Alumni mentors return to the program to offer support, share their recovery experiences, and participate in group activities.

Typical schedule

  • Daily schedules: From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., clients leave the facility to work, participate in vocational activities, or attend approved recovery and educational activities. At 5:30 p.m., clients attend a mandatory house meeting followed by a mandatory group supper at 6 p.m. Group counseling and recovery-related activities take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m., and phase groups, life-story groups, recreation, and community living activities take place from 9 p.m. until midnight. Clients have a midnight curfew from Sunday through Thursday and a 1 a.m. curfew on Fridays and Saturdays.
  • Other scheduled activities: Formal group meetings are scheduled for Monday and Thursday evenings, and clients must attend 3 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings a week.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Shared household environment and expectations: Clients share bedrooms, typically with 1 to 3 other people. Clients clean, cook, maintain the yard, and complete other household tasks and share suppers.
  • Technology limitations: Cellphones and laptops are generally restricted.
  • Family visitation: Family and friends can visit during designated weekend blocks, depending on individual circumstances.

Aftercare

  • Transition into sober housing: The residential part of the program typically lasts about 4 to 6 months. Clients then typically transition into structured three-quarterway or sober transitional homes.
  • Continued programming: Aftercare groups meet 2 times a month, giving clients an opportunity to discuss challenges they face as they transition toward greater independence.
  • Alumni community: The alumni group meets 2 times a month for recovery activities, social events, and fundraisers.

Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities

CARF reviews rehab programs to make sure they provide respectful, effective, and personalized care. For addiction treatment, CARF uses standards developed with the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), so this accreditation shows the program follows trusted, evidence-based guidelines for treating substance use.

How we research treatment facilities

Across the site, our team has conducted over 1,000 pre-admissions calls to better understand the patient experience, interviewed facility clinical leaders, performed facility background checks, and compared our information against trusted public data sources.

Our research process begins with data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), accrediting bodies including The Joint Commission and CARF, government licensing agencies, and other trusted sources. From there, our team conducts significant original research, including:

- Pre-admissions calls: We speak with admissions staff to get a candid picture of patient experience.

- Background checks: We review complaints from past clients, media reports, actions taken by accrediting bodies, and positive recognition from notable organizations.

- Clinical interviews: We have in-depth conversations with clinical leadership, often lasting up to one hour, that give us a better understanding of clinical care.

- Data partnerships: We ingest and analyze exclusive data that provides information about in-network insurance status, cost, and more.

Research varies by facility. Each facility profile shows which research steps we completed and when each step was last performed. Learn more about our research process and background checks.

How we evaluate treatment facilities

These data help us develop a Trust Score for each facility—a simple letter grade that helps you assess how much confidence to place in a facility based on the information available to us. Trust Score considers accreditation, operating history, notable recognition, and concerns identified during our background check. Our Trust Score is an objective rating that is never influenced by advertiser payment. Learn more about our Trust Score methodology.
