  • Not a fit if: Those who want outpatient-only care; prefer a less structured program or just individual therapy; need in-person family visitation; or need regular access to technology during treatment.

What to expect

Typical schedule

  • Detox groups: For those who start treatment with withdrawal management, detox-specific groups are offered in combination with 24/7 medical attention. These groups are short and designed to help clients get through the process with greater ease: progressive relaxation, meditation, and other skills are taught.
  • Structured day-time routine: Days typically begin with morning vitals and breakfast at 7:00 a.m., followed by some free time, group meetings, lunch at 12:00 p.m., psychoeducational groups at 1:00 p.m., and skills groups at 2:15 p.m.
  • Wind-down evening schedule: Clients eat dinner between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m., followed by more group meetings, a recovery meeting around 7:30 p.m., and close out the day with down time before lights out at 10:30 p.m.

“We pay close attention to what the clients are actually responding to—what creates meaningful, lasting change in their real life.” — Dr. Jennifer Richards, Chief Clinical Officer at BriteLife Recovery

Developing your care plan

  • Admissions assessments: The pre-admissions process includes screening and an insurance review, and clients meet with a counselor to discuss specific needs before creating a treatment plan.
  • Client involvement: Treatment plans are individualized based on client needs, and each client has a say in how their program is shaped and which services best fit their needs.
  • First three days: Clients get a thorough nursing assessment and medical evaluation. They also meet with their primary therapists and are introduced to other members of the care team.
  • Substantial treatment options: Care plans may include individual and/or group therapy, trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, nature-informed therapy, and adventure recovery, all based on client needs.

“For any change to be internalized, we really need to be targeting the mind, body, spirit, and nervous system — all of these things at once.” — Dr. Jennifer Richards, Chief Clinical Officer at BriteLife Recovery

Who you will meet with

  • Counselors: Before beginning treatment, clients meet with a counselor to help develop their treatment plan.
  • Psychiatric and medical staff: A psychiatrist and medical staff, including 24-hour nursing, are all available for client support.
  • Entire care team: The leadership team, grounds staff, housekeeping, and ancillary providers are also part of the large and important community supporting clients through recovery.

“Our job is to help people rebuild connections… through strong clinical work, through a healthy community, through experiential therapy.” — Dr. Jennifer Richards, Chief Clinical Officer at BriteLife Recovery

Living experiences and amenities

  • Comfortable gender-specific housing: Men and women live in separate homes, with access to a pool, tennis courts, walking trails, a music room, and spaces to relax, read, or spend time with peers during free time.
  • Outdoor adventures: Beach visits and other outdoor activities involving experiential therapeutic excursions, are an important part of care.
  • Family involvement: The facility does not allow in-person visitation, but clients who want family involvement can access family therapy and a virtual Be a Loving Mirror (B.A.M.) program.

Aftercare

  • Alumni programming: Clients can stay connected after treatment through an alumni network through an alumni app.
  • Continuing care: The facility also offers peer connection, local 12-step resources, and help with identifying step-down recovery support.
