Flexible outpatient mental health and substance use treatment provides a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and intensive outpatient program (IOP), including flexible three or five day IOP schedules and an evening virtual option. Smaller group sizes are intended to give clients more opportunities to take part and connect with peers and staff with lived-recovery experience. Partial hospitalization clients can also access supportive housing while transitioning from outside withdrawal management (detox) or residential treatment. The facility accepts private insurance and self-pay options. Financial assistance may be available.

Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adults who need PHP or IOP level therapy; do not require 24-hour clinical supervision; are stepping down from detox or residential treatment; may need supportive housing while attending PHP; prefer smaller group settings; need case management for practical needs.

  • Not a fit if: Adults who need detox; require 24-hour; are looking for primarily one-on-one therapy and little group time.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • **Prescreen and initial assessment **: Prior to admission, clients take part in a 20-minute phone prescreen to determine whether the facility's level of care can safely meet their needs. During admission, an on-site intake starts the clinical chart, and a biopsychosocial assessment takes place during the first week to help guide treatment planning.
  • Individualized treatment planning: Clients work individually with a counselor to determine treatment goals based on current symptoms, triggers, level-of-care needs, and concerns the client may want to address.

Who you will meet with

  • Individual counseling and group therapy: Clients receive about one hour of individual counseling per week, and group clinicians lead sessions focused on tools for managing mental health and addiction symptoms. This may include somatic exercises and physical grounding techniques.
  • Case management and practical support: Case managers support clients by helping with practical needs like getting an ID or glasses, scheduling doctor's appointments, and arranging next steps after formal treatment is complete. Operations staff interact with clients while coordinating supportive housing, meals, and transportation.
  • Daily support and clinical oversight: Behavioral technicians help with daily needs within the program while the clinical director may work with clients when clinical needs arise.

Typical schedule

  • PHP: The PHP runs from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. five days a week, with 50-minute groups and 10-minute breaks between them. The IOP includes three hours of treatment per day, 3 or 5 days per week.
  • Virtual IOP and group sizes: Virtual IOP takes place from 6-9 p.m. for clients whose life responsibilities require them to participate in evening treatment. Morning groups typically have about 15 clients, while afternoon groups are usually smaller, often with two to five clients. Virtual groups have a maximum of about 20 people.
  • Group-based clinical treatment: Group therapy is the primary means of care and focuses on managing mental health and addiction symptoms. Sessions may cover coping and recovery strategies, trigger and stress management, somatic exercises, and physical grounding. Clients are not required to participate in group discussions but it is encouraged.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Supportive housing: Optional supportive housing is available for PHP clients who may need additional support while transitioning from detox or residential treatment. Though housing is not considered residential treatment, meals and transportation are coordinated by the operations team.

Aftercare

  • Alumni support: Clients have the opportunity to stay connected through the alumni program and an open-door policy. This policy allows former clients to reach back out to the facility and reconnect with a clinician or former group connections when appropriate.
  • Step-down care: After completing IOP, clients may transition to weekly outpatient counseling for continued support.

How we research treatment facilities

Across the site, our team has conducted over 1,000 pre-admissions calls to better understand the patient experience, interviewed facility clinical leaders, performed facility background checks, and compared our information against trusted public data sources.

Our research process begins with data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), accrediting bodies including The Joint Commission and CARF, government licensing agencies, and other trusted sources. From there, our team conducts significant original research, including:

- Pre-admissions calls: We speak with admissions staff to get a candid picture of patient experience.

- Background checks: We review complaints from past clients, media reports, actions taken by accrediting bodies, and positive recognition from notable organizations.

- Clinical interviews: We have in-depth conversations with clinical leadership, often lasting up to one hour, that give us a better understanding of clinical care.

- Data partnerships: We ingest and analyze exclusive data that provides information about in-network insurance status, cost, and more.

Research varies by facility. Each facility profile shows which research steps we completed and when each step was last performed. Learn more about our research process and background checks.

How we evaluate treatment facilities

These data help us develop a Trust Score for each facility—a simple letter grade that helps you assess how much confidence to place in a facility based on the information available to us. Trust Score considers accreditation, operating history, notable recognition, and concerns identified during our background check. Our Trust Score is an objective rating that is never influenced by advertiser payment. Learn more about our Trust Score methodology.

A Trust Score is a starting point, not a guarantee of treatment quality or outcomes. Please contact us if you would like to update or correct facility information.
