Programs to fit around everyday life

An intensive outpatient program (IOP) can be a good fit for clients who need regular treatment but don’t need an inpatient environment. Some may start their recovery journey with an IOP, while others may step down to it from residential care or a partial hospitalization program (PHP). Each person begins treatment with a full physical and mental health assessment to identify current symptoms and individual goals. Clients then participate in an adapted care plan that includes a mix of one-on-one therapy and skills-based group sessions. Treatment can often start within 24-48 hours of admission.

Trauma-informed, evidence-based therapies

Therapy is based on methods proven to support long-term recovery. Clients work with licensed therapists who use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to address harmful thought patterns and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to strengthen emotional regulation and interpersonal skills. For those addressing trauma, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is offered to help reduce distress linked to past experiences. These methods are delivered through both individual and group environments to promote self-awareness, accountability, and peer connection.

Co-occurring mental health care

Treatment plans are made to address substance use and mental health conditions at once. This keeps care coordinated within one clinical team. Clinicians communicate with each other and work with clients to make sure their needs are being addressed from all angles. When treatment begins, clients complete a psychiatric evaluation to identify any co-occurring conditions that may be present but have been previously undiagnosed. Along with MAT, psychiatric medication can be prescribed as needed.

Practical support

Beyond core therapy, Orlando Outpatient Center provides additional support services to help clients build stability and continuity as they progress through their recovery. Case management assists individuals with practical needs like scheduling care with outside providers or connecting to community resources. Family education sessions are held when appropriate to encourage open communication between loved ones. For clients with legal obligations, court-ordered outpatient treatment is offered in collaboration with local agencies.
