Who is this facility a good fit for?
Best fit if: Adults looking for a full continuum of substance use and co-occurring mental health care; need medical detox; want a private, rural environment with outdoor activities; professionals looking to keep working while in residential treatment; those who want to use their smartphones and laptops during treatment; have private insurance, TRICARE, or want to self-pay.
Not a fit if: Those who need acute, hospital-level care or psychiatric stabilization; want a self-directed approach; not willing to participate in clinical therapy; prefer a city-based setting; have Medicaid, Medicare, or are uninsured and unable to self-pay.
What to expect
Developing your care plan
- Personalized treatment: An assigned counselor works closely with each client to adapt care to their unique needs. This is based on medical assessments, psychiatric evaluations, and a detailed interview of trauma history, strengths, challenges, and goals.
- Frequent reassessment: At least once a week, treatment plans are reviewed to make sure all programming is a good fit. Updates can be made based on progress and setbacks.
- Early discharge planning: Preparation for the return home starts immediately. Counselors work with clients on their discharge plan throughout their stay, and outside professionals are contacted before clients leave to ensure there are no gaps in care.
“From the moment members arrive, our priority is creating a welcoming, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment.” — Shannon Fore, Executive Director of Clinical Operations at Sana Lake Recovery
Who you will meet with
- Therapists: A primary therapist is assigned to each client for treatment planning and one-on-one therapy. Therapists also lead group sessions.
- Medical staff: Available 24/7 to tend to clients’ health, especially during withdrawal management (detox). The team includes a clinical director, registered nurses, and licensed practical nurses.
- Psychiatric team: Psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners work with clients who have co-occurring mental health diagnoses or concerns.
- Behavioral health technicians: Facilitate day-to-day care and support for clients.
- Case managers: Provide practical assistance with outside needs, such as FMLA paperwork and connections to community resources.
Typical schedule
- Clinical programming: Clients participate in frequent group therapy sessions, including process groups, education sessions, and life skills training. One-on-one therapy occurs at least once each week.
- Family integration: When desired by the client, loved ones can be involved in family therapy sessions. A specialized program is also available for family members who want additional support.
- Evidence-based methods: Approaches include dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), solution-focused therapy, trauma counseling, and relapse prevention.
- Holistic therapies: Clients can participate in meditation, yoga, art and music therapy, and journaling. Acudetox is an option for clients who want non-traditional withdrawal management.
“Our trauma-informed approach focuses on emotional and physical safety, transparency, collaboration, and respect.” — Shannon Fore, Executive Director of Clinical Operations at Sana Lake Recovery
Living experiences and amenities
- Rural lakeside campus: The spacious private property includes hiking trails, gardens, and a lake.
- Recreation: When not in therapy, clients can spend time outside, play disc golf, go fishing, or go to the gym where personal training can be arranged.
- Technology policy: Personal devices are allowed as long as they are put away during therapy sessions. Clients can use their laptops for up to four hours per day, as approved by the care team.
- Vistation: Loved ones can visit on Saturdays between 1-3 p.m. Other days and times can be arranged when appropriate.
Aftercare
- Full step-down continuum: The center offers withdrawal management, residential treatment, outpatient programs with virtual options, and sober living arrangements, allowing clients to stay with the same care team and experience smoother transitions as they progress through their recovery.
- Extended alumni program: Once clients graduate, they receive aftercare support for five years. This includes weekly Members for Life events, peer recovery coaching, meetings, and special programs.
“When a member is discharged, they leave with a personalized aftercare plan designed to support long-term recovery and wellness.” — Shannon Fore, Executive Director of Clinical Operations at Sana Lake Recovery
