Best fit if: Adults who want residential treatment with psychiatric involvement; benefit from a trauma-informed approach or chronic pain management; need specialized support for professionals, veterans, or first responders; looking for upscale amenities; have private insurance or can self-pay.
Not a fit if: Those in need of outpatient-only care or a low-structured program; require acute, hospital-level stabilization; more comfortable in a city-based setting; have Medicaid, or are uninsured and unable to self-pay.
What to expect
Typical schedule
- Structured treatment plan: Clients complete about six hours of therapeutic programming every day, with clinical care usually running from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
- Daily routine: Days begin with breakfast, taking care of horses, and mindfulness activities like gardening or hiking. Throughout the day, clients participate in therapy, skills practice, lectures, and clinical consults.
- Wind down evenings: In the evenings, clients may participate in reflection time, peer-led activities, and dinner, with lights out at 10:00 p.m.
Developing your care plan
- Evaluations and individualized planning: Upon arrival, clients meet with a psychiatric provider for an initial evaluation, and treatment plans are then created with active client input.
- Additional in-depth assessments: For clients with more complex needs, a comprehensive assessment program provides in-depth psychiatric, psychological, and medical evaluations over the course of at least five days.
- Ongoing updates: Treatment plants are adjusted based on client needs and progress.
Who you will meet with
- Psychiatric providers: Licensed psychiatric professionals provide early evaluations and work with clients on their mental health needs.
- Individual therapists: Clients meet one-on-one with individual therapists as part of care.
- Treatment team: The multidisciplinary team includes doctors and other medical staff who support clients throughout treatment.
Living experiences and amenities
- Private, nature-based setting: The campus rests on 160 acres in the foothills of the Santa Catalina mountains, offering privacy and distance from everyday stress.
- Mindful amenities: Clients can enjoy a swimming pool, sports courts, a gym, labyrinth, walking paths, ropes course, an equine area, rock climbing wall, and visits with emotional support dogs.
- Technology access: Cell phone and personal tablet use are approved on a case-by-case basis, and clients have access to computer stations in common areas for scheduled email time and care research.
- Visitation policies: Primary therapists usually approve visitation after five full days of treatment. Visits typically take place on Sundays and designated holidays.
Aftercare
- Step-down arrangements: Before clients graduate from residential care, staff can help them transition to outpatient programs and find sober living accommodations as needed.
- Connect365: Clients have free access to a full year of app-based support through Connect365. This includes a personal recovery coach to help keep clients accountable.
