What to expect

Developing your care plan

• Admissions and intake: During admissions, clients undergo a preliminary intake screening to help determine what level of care is appropriate. Clients entering for alcohol detox can expect a minimum stay of 10-14 days. Insurance is also verified at this time.
• Treatment plans: Care plans are personalized and developed by a team. Planning takes into account treatment needs, recovery goals, familial and employment concerns, and educational goals.

Who you will meet with

• Medical support team: Medical doctors, nursing staff, and an off-site psychiatrist support individuals during detox with medication management and psychiatric care. Psychiatrist visits take place weekly, and they are also available in case of emergencies.
• Therapists and recovery support: Therapists, case managers, and group facilitators provide individual therapy and lead group therapy sessions in addition to supporting clients with discharge preparation and preparing for life after treatment.

Typical schedule

• Withdrawal management: During withdrawal management, clients are encouraged to rest. Participation in group therapy is available but optional. Medications may be used as appropriate to help manage withdrawal symptoms.
• Daily treatment schedule: The day typically begins with breakfast before group programming from 9-11 a.m. After lunch and a break, clients take part in additional therapy groups in the afternoon and evening. Community recovery meetings take place on scheduled days. About three community support meetings occur each week with additional meetings and recreational outings taking place on some weekends.
• Family visits: Family visitation takes place Sundays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday visitation may be scheduled if loved ones are traveling from out of state.

Living experiences and amenities

• Living environment: The small, home-like residence supports only six clients at a time, creating an opportunity for more individualized support. Bedrooms are shared with one roommate, with room assignments based on occupancy.
• Electronics policy: Personal electronics are generally allowed with approval when clients have completed detox. Devices are not permitted during group treatment.

Aftercare

• Discharge planning: Discharge planning and continuing care recommendations may be available to help clients feel supported in their transition after residential treatment.
• Additional recovery support: Clients also have access to peer support, self-help groups, outcome follow-up after discharge, and housing assistance. Additional help may be available to connect clients with community and social services.
