Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adults who need substance use and co-occurring mental health treatment in a structured, 24/7 supervised setting; prefer a home-like environment; willing to participate in frequent group and individual therapy, along with medication management when appropriate; have private insurance or can self-pay.

  • Not a fit if: Need acute, hospital-level care; want outpatient-only or self-directed treatment; unwilling to participate in intensive clinical sessions; have Medicaid or Medicare, or are uninsured and unable to self-pay.

What to expect

Typical schedule

  • Weekday groups: Five or six hours of talk therapy groups are held each day between Monday and Friday. Process groups explore topics like self-care, conflict resolution, communication skills, and psychotherapy.
  • Proven therapies: Evidence-based approaches include DBT and CBT. Additionally, EMDR is offered for clients working to address trauma.
  • Mindfulness: Meditation and mindfulness groups aim to help clients regulate emotions, reduce stress, and increase self-awareness.
  • Gym visits and hikes: Staff provide transportation to the gym at least three times per week. Groups also go on hikes so clients can spend time in nature.
  • Weekend outings: On weekends, groups take trips to the aquarium, bowling alley, or other community attractions

Developing your care plan

  • Personalized plans: On the first day of residential care, clients collaborate with the clinical team to create a personalized treatment plan.
  • One-on-one support: Clients are assigned a primary therapist who will work closely with them throughout their stay.
  • Flexible stays: The minimum residential stay is 30 days, but this is flexible, and clients usually stay between 30 to 60 days.

Who you will meet with

  • Medical team: Meets with clients at least once a week for medication management when appropriate.
  • Primary therapists: Connect with clients in one-on-one sessions at least twice each week.
  • Master’s-level clinicians: In charge of the clinical side of treatment and run both group and individual therapy sessions.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Home-like accommodations: Clients stay in a large house in a residential neighborhood. Bedrooms are usually shared with one or two peers, but private rooms are available for an additional fee.
  • Evening relaxation: In the evenings, clients can take time by themselves to reflect, spend time with peers in comfortable living rooms with TVs, or unwind on the outdoor patio.
  • Phone calls and visitation: While personal devices are not permitted, clients can call loved ones daily using the facility phone. Family members can visit on Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.

Aftercare

  • Smooth transitions: When clients have completed their residential stay and are ready, staff can connect them to outpatient programs within the Turning Point network. These include partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP).
  • Long-term connections: The alumni program, which offers lifetime support, involves weekly peer-led meetings, recreational gatherings such as softball and volleyball games, and quarterly get-togethers like barbeques and camping trips.

How we research treatment facilities

Across the site, our team has conducted over 1,000 pre-admissions calls to better understand the patient experience, interviewed facility clinical leaders, performed facility background checks, and compared our information against trusted public data sources.

Our research process begins with data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), accrediting bodies including The Joint Commission and CARF, government licensing agencies, and other trusted sources. From there, our team conducts significant original research, including:

- Pre-admissions calls: We speak with admissions staff to get a candid picture of patient experience.

- Background checks: We review complaints from past clients, media reports, actions taken by accrediting bodies, and positive recognition from notable organizations.

- Clinical interviews: We have in-depth conversations with clinical leadership, often lasting up to one hour, that give us a better understanding of clinical care.

- Data partnerships: We ingest and analyze exclusive data that provides information about in-network insurance status, cost, and more.

Research varies by facility. Each facility profile shows which research steps we completed and when each step was last performed. Learn more about our research process and background checks.

How we evaluate treatment facilities

These data help us develop a Trust Score for each facility—a simple letter grade that helps you assess how much confidence to place in a facility based on the information available to us. Trust Score considers accreditation, operating history, notable recognition, and concerns identified during our background check. Our Trust Score is an objective rating that is never influenced by advertiser payment. Learn more about our Trust Score methodology.

We cannot guarantee the quality of treatment at any facility. We cannot independently confirm the accuracy of every data point, and some information may become outdated or change over time. A Trust Score is a starting point, not a guarantee of treatment quality or outcomes. Please contact us if you would like to update or correct facility information.
