Detox and residential integration

Clients can start treatment in withdrawal management when needed, with MAT options available for safety and to help ease symptoms and cravings. Withdrawal management is held in the same place as residential care, giving clients the opportunity to dive into daily programming starting on day one. Group therapy sessions are held throughout the day seven days a week, with evidence-based approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), as well as trauma-focused Seeking Safety and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).

Gender-separate treatment programs

Men and women participate in separate programs, each housed in its own wing of the facility. Therapy groups and counseling sessions are tailored to the specific needs of each group, including each gender’s unique challenges surrounding trauma and co-occurring mental health concerns. This environment may make some clients more comfortable and able to discuss sensitive topics more openly, as well as build peer connections with those who can more closely relate to their life experiences.

Activities, creative therapies, and skill-building

Staff take clients on group outings to enjoy outdoor activities such as sports, hikes, and meditation walks, as well as seasonal barbecues or snowshoeing. To complement evidence-based therapy, the facility offers mindfulness, yoga, reiki, music therapy, and creative journaling. The program also provides education on practical coping strategies and vocational development to help clients prepare for stable employment.

Aftercare planning

The residential stay is usually between 14 and 35 days, though this is flexible based on client needs. Valley Vista also offers a lower-intensity residential program that can last up to 90 days if clinically appropriate. Planning for discharge starts early, and staff can connect clients with outpatient care programs and community resources.

Pre-admissions experience

When we reached out to Valley Vista Bradford, the admissions team answered immediately. They provided us with basic information on daily schedules, clinical approaches, and admissions. The conversation felt direct, though answers were somewhat blunt and not overly detailed.

How we research treatment facilities

Across the site, our team has conducted over 1,000 pre-admissions calls to better understand the patient experience, interviewed facility clinical leaders, performed facility background checks, and compared our information against trusted public data sources.

Our research process begins with data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), accrediting bodies including The Joint Commission and CARF, government licensing agencies, and other trusted sources. From there, our team conducts significant original research, including:

- Pre-admissions calls: We speak with admissions staff to get a candid picture of patient experience.

- Background checks: We review complaints from past clients, media reports, actions taken by accrediting bodies, and positive recognition from notable organizations.

- Clinical interviews: We have in-depth conversations with clinical leadership, often lasting up to one hour, that give us a better understanding of clinical care.

- Data partnerships: We ingest and analyze exclusive data that provides information about in-network insurance status, cost, and more.

Research varies by facility. Each facility profile shows which research steps we completed and when each step was last performed. Learn more about our research process and background checks.

How we evaluate treatment facilities

These data help us develop a Trust Score for each facility—a simple letter grade that helps you assess how much confidence to place in a facility based on the information available to us. Trust Score considers accreditation, operating history, notable recognition, and concerns identified during our background check. Our Trust Score is an objective rating that is never influenced by advertiser payment. Learn more about our Trust Score methodology.

A Trust Score is a starting point, not a guarantee of treatment quality or outcomes. Please contact us if you would like to update or correct facility information.
