Who is this facility a good fit for?
- Best fit if: Native American men ages 18 and older seeking extended residential treatment; looking for a predictable, structured treatment routine; wanting to disconnect from outside distractions to focus on recovery; seeking a program that includes 12-Step education and practical recovery skills.
- Not a fit if: Women and people who do not meet the Native American tribal eligibility requirements; members of tribes other than Choctaw who live outside the Choctaw reservation; eligible men seeking private or luxury accommodations; needing frequent access to personal electronic devices; needing in-person family visitation; seeking outpatient care, a shorter stay, or immediate admission.
What to expect
Developing your care plan
- Specific eligibility requirements: Applicants must be male, at least 18 years old, and have a Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB) from a federally recognized tribe. Members of the Choctaw tribe can reside anywhere. Members of other federally recognized tribes must live within the Choctaw reservation.
- Initial screening: Interested applicants must complete a telephone screening that is then reviewed by the treatment team. Approved applicants receive application packets to fill out and return. After applications are reviewed, applicants are placed on a waiting list. The program processes admissions 3 days a week.
- Direct collaboration: Once admitted, each client is assigned a counselor with whom they work one-on-one to develop both their treatment and discharge plans. Preparation for leaving treatment is part of the ongoing counseling relationship.
Who you will meet with
- Assigned counselor: Clients work with an assigned counselor to develop their treatment plan, discuss progress, and create a discharge plan.
- Individual counselors: Counselors meet with clients for one-on-one sessions throughout the week.
- Group counselors: Counselors lead group sessions, which are a large part of treatment. Groups are generally held between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Medical and mental health providers: Clients needing additional help for physical or mental health needs can receive services through the nearby Choctaw Nation Health Care Center.
Typical schedule
- Weekdays: Clients start group programming at 8 a.m. from Monday to Friday. There are breaks between sessions, and clients get an hour-long lunch break. Group sessions continue in the afternoon, ending around 4 p.m. Clients also attend one-on-one sessions with their individual therapists throughout the week.
- Physical and mental health services: Addiction counseling takes place in the residential program. Clients who need medical and mental health services can receive care from the nearby Choctaw Nation Health Care Center.
Living experiences and amenities
- A practical, dorm-style residential environment: The program hosts about 20 clients at a time. Clients share 2-person rooms and are provided a desk, dresser, and closet. Electronics and vapes are not permitted, and there is no family visitation.
- Ropes course: The facility's ropes course offers an experiential component to treatment, adding variety to the structured counseling-focused program.
Aftercare
- Collaborative discharge planning: Assigned counselors help clients shape their discharge plan throughout their stay.
- Treatment with a focus on life after treatment: Relapse prevention and coping skills are included in the curriculum. This helps clients prepare for the challenges they may face when living independently.

View all facilities in FloridaHow we research treatment facilities
Across the site, our team has conducted over 1,000 pre-admissions calls to better understand the patient experience, interviewed facility clinical leaders, performed facility background checks, and compared our information against trusted public data sources.
Our research process begins with data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), accrediting bodies including The Joint Commission and CARF, government licensing agencies, and other trusted sources. From there, our team conducts significant original research, including:
- Pre-admissions calls: We speak with admissions staff to get a candid picture of patient experience.
- Background checks: We review complaints from past clients, media reports, actions taken by accrediting bodies, and positive recognition from notable organizations.
- Clinical interviews: We have in-depth conversations with clinical leadership, often lasting up to one hour, that give us a better understanding of clinical care.
- Data partnerships: We ingest and analyze exclusive data that provides information about in-network insurance status, cost, and more.
Research varies by facility. Each facility profile shows which research steps we completed and when each step was last performed. Learn more about our research process and background checks.
How we evaluate treatment facilities
These data help us develop a Trust Score for each facility—a simple letter grade that helps you assess how much confidence to place in a facility based on the information available to us. Trust Score considers accreditation, operating history, notable recognition, and concerns identified during our background check. Our Trust Score is an objective rating that is never influenced by advertiser payment. Learn more about our Trust Score methodology.

We cannot guarantee the quality of treatment at any facility. We cannot independently confirm the accuracy of every data point, and some information may become outdated or change over time. A Trust Score is a starting point, not a guarantee of treatment quality or outcomes. Please contact us if you would like to update or correct facility information.
