Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Teens ages 13 to 17.5 living in Canadian County, Oklahoma, seeking residential treatment; experiencing disruptions to school or academic performance due to substance use; needing to complete requirements for the juvenile justice system while receiving treatment; seeking outpatient services for substance use treatment, mental health counseling, or family support; families seeking ongoing involvement during treatment.
  • Not a fit if: Adults seeking residential treatment; individuals outside of Canadian County; teens seeking luxury accommodations or retreat-style amenities; individuals needing inpatient withdrawal management or medications for addiction treatment (MAT).

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Initial assessment: Adolescents complete a drug and alcohol assessment to determine whether residential or outpatient care is most appropriate.
  • Treatment plan reviews: In residential treatment, care plans are reviewed every week by a team of mental health professionals and other providers. The team considers the effectiveness of the plan and whether treatment should be adjusted.

Who you will meet with

  • Therapists: These mental health professionals provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions.
  • Youth guidance specialists: Provide 24-hour supervision and support to teens during residential treatment.
  • Recreational therapist: Leads daily structured activities with the goal of introducing teens to alternatives to substance use and high-risk behaviors.
  • Education staff: Support daily education through the Canadian County Education Center.
  • Case management and peer recovery support personnel: Assist with recovery-related needs and wellness.

Typical schedule

  • Mornings: Teens attend school every morning with coursework adapted to each client’s grade level and needs. Students can work on a range of educational goals, including making up for missed credits, high school equivalency preparation, or college coursework. After classes, teens have daily structured recreational activities.
  • Weekly programming: Programming includes 15 hours of rehabilitation and group therapy with at least an hour of individual therapy every week. Teens also participate in at least an hour of family therapy every 2 weeks and 3 hours of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings weekly. Both on- and off-site meetings are available.
  • Evenings: Teens can make nightly calls to loved ones and interact with peers.
  • Weekly activities: There are opportunities for outings, local events, and field trips, as well as family visits and, in some cases, private passes that allow clients to spend time outside the facility with family members or caregivers.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Small community-style program: The residential program has 12 residential beds with an open floor plan where teens can interact throughout the day. Youth guidance specialists supervise residents 24 hours a day.
  • Recreational opportunities: Daily recreational activities aim to introduce healthy activities and alternatives to substance use. Teens also participate in community events, field trips, and weekly outings. There are also outdoor activities on site, including gardens, walking paths, and an outdoor relaxation lounge.
  • Family contact: Families are welcome for weekly in-person visits, and teens can make nightly phone calls to stay in touch.

Aftercare

  • Transition planning: Aftercare planning helps teens adjust to daily living outside of treatment and reduce the risk of renewed substance use or further justice-system involvement.
  • Outpatient services: The center offers outpatient services, family therapy, case management, and peer recovery support. While residential treatment is only for adolescents, outpatient treatment is also offered to adults.

Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities

CARF reviews rehab programs to make sure they provide respectful, effective, and personalized care. For addiction treatment, CARF uses standards developed with the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), so this accreditation shows the program follows trusted, evidence-based guidelines for treating substance use.

How we research treatment facilities

Across the site, our team has conducted over 1,000 pre-admissions calls to better understand the patient experience, interviewed facility clinical leaders, performed facility background checks, and compared our information against trusted public data sources.

Our research process begins with data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), accrediting bodies including The Joint Commission and CARF, government licensing agencies, and other trusted sources. From there, our team conducts significant original research, including:

- Pre-admissions calls: We speak with admissions staff to get a candid picture of patient experience.

- Background checks: We review complaints from past clients, media reports, actions taken by accrediting bodies, and positive recognition from notable organizations.

- Clinical interviews: We have in-depth conversations with clinical leadership, often lasting up to one hour, that give us a better understanding of clinical care.

- Data partnerships: We ingest and analyze exclusive data that provides information about in-network insurance status, cost, and more.

Research varies by facility. Each facility profile shows which research steps we completed and when each step was last performed. Learn more about our research process and background checks.

How we evaluate treatment facilities

These data help us develop a Trust Score for each facility—a simple letter grade that helps you assess how much confidence to place in a facility based on the information available to us. Trust Score considers accreditation, operating history, notable recognition, and concerns identified during our background check. Our Trust Score is an objective rating that is never influenced by advertiser payment. Learn more about our Trust Score methodology.
