Outpatient substance use treatment with morning and evening intensive outpatient programs (IOPs). In-person and virtual sessions are available so clients can balance treatment with other responsibilities. Small groups typically have about 6 to 10 participants, and clients can step down to regular outpatient care after the IOP. Qualified clients can receive transportation assistance, and the facility also offers coordination with court-related services. This facility is in-network with some insurance plans, accepts most New Jersey Medicaid plans, and offers private-pay options with a sliding fee scale.

Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adults seeking a program that fits around working hours; transitioning from a higher level of treatment; looking for support for co-occurring mental health conditions; preferring smaller therapy groups; seeking a hybrid care option; needing a program that works with the legal system.

  • Not a fit if: Adults needing withdrawal management; seeking residential accommodations; wanting a fully remote program; seeking on-site medications for addiction treatment (MAT); looking for a partial hospitalization program (PHP).

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Initial evaluations: After contacting the facility, prospective clients typically receive an initial evaluation within 3 business days. This takes about an hour and includes both a mental health and psychiatric assessment. The facility also requests discharge documentation directly from previous providers. Clinical staff use this information to recommend appropriate levels of care.
  • Various treatment approaches: Treatment may include individual therapy, group counseling, and psychiatric coordination. Holistic options, such as art therapy, music therapy, and yoga, are also included. Medication management can be arranged with outside collaborating providers. Groups typically host 6 to 12 clients, and attendance can range from 1 to 4 sessions a week. Treatment frequency can be adjusted as client needs change.

Who you will meet with

  • Individual therapists: Each client works with a dedicated individual therapist who they meet with once a week.
  • Group counselors: Lead therapeutic activities and facilitate small-group discussions.
  • Psychiatric nurse practitioner: When needed, psychiatric evaluations and medication management are coordinated with a collaborating psychiatric nurse practitioner.
  • Intake and assessment coordinator: Guides clients through initial evaluations and the beginning of treatment.
  • Substance use counselors: These professionals offer counseling and support for substance use concerns.

Typical schedule

  • Morning IOP: The morning IOP meets Monday to Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday meetings are in person; Tuesday and Thursday are virtual. Weekly urine drug screenings are part of ongoing monitoring.
  • Evening IOP: The evening IOP meets Monday through Wednesday, 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays, sessions are in person; Tuesdays and Wednesdays are virtual.
  • Partial care: In the partial care program, sessions are generally 3 hours a day for up to 5 days a week. Clients can attend virtually when clinically appropriate.
  • Standard outpatient: Clients have individualized schedules in this program, which includes one-on-one and/or group sessions, either in person or virtually. Standard outpatient individual sessions typically last about 50 to 60 minutes.

Living experiences and amenities

  • A quiet, private space: Privacy and smaller groups are emphasized. Most groups have between 6 and 10 clients, with a maximum of approximately 12.
  • Treatment that fits daily life: Clients can attend treatment while continuing to navigate their daily lives and responsibilities. Hybrid options offer even more flexibility.
  • Practical support: Transportation assistance is available for eligible clients. Staff can also connect clients with community resources and coordinate court-related services.

Aftercare

  • Step-down care: Clients who complete the IOP can transition into standard outpatient care within the same facility. This may include individual counseling, group sessions, relapse prevention, and life skills support.
  • Connection with community groups: The facility connects alumni with local Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), and SMART Recovery meetings.

Pre-admissions experience

We conducted a series of pre-admissions calls, the most recent on October 14, 2026, to evaluate response time, transparency, and patient experience.

The representative we spoke with at Diamond Counseling Center was not pushy or overly sales-oriented, but the conversation felt rushed. They provided core information but did not proactively supply highly-detailed insights or specifics about the program and did not provide cost information during the call.

Client reviews

Clients commonly praise caring counselors, helpful treatment, and support from fellow clients, though experiences with staff vary.

  • Staff & care experience (85% positive): Clients often describe friendly counselors who care about their progress and treat them with respect. A few older reviews describe less positive staff experiences. "You’re not a number, you're a person."
  • Treatment quality & outcomes (85% positive): Reviewers describe counseling that helped them make progress in recovery and get their lives back on track.
  • Support & community (100% positive): Clients appreciate encouragement from staff and fellow participants, describing a helpful treatment community. "Excellent support from the staff as well as the clients."

How we research treatment facilities

Across the site, our team has conducted over 1,000 pre-admissions calls to better understand the patient experience, interviewed facility clinical leaders, performed facility background checks, and compared our information against trusted public data sources.

Our research process begins with data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), accrediting bodies including The Joint Commission and CARF, government licensing agencies, and other trusted sources. From there, our team conducts significant original research, including:

- Pre-admissions calls: We speak with admissions staff to get a candid picture of patient experience.

- Background checks: We review complaints from past clients, media reports, actions taken by accrediting bodies, and positive recognition from notable organizations.

- Clinical interviews: We have in-depth conversations with clinical leadership, often lasting up to one hour, that give us a better understanding of clinical care.

- Data partnerships: We ingest and analyze exclusive data that provides information about in-network insurance status, cost, and more.

Research varies by facility. Each facility profile shows which research steps we completed and when each step was last performed. Learn more about our research process and background checks.

How we evaluate treatment facilities

These data help us develop a Trust Score for each facility—a simple letter grade that helps you assess how much confidence to place in a facility based on the information available to us. Trust Score considers accreditation, operating history, notable recognition, and concerns identified during our background check. Our Trust Score is an objective rating that is never influenced by advertiser payment. Learn more about our Trust Score methodology.

A Trust Score is a starting point, not a guarantee of treatment quality or outcomes. Please contact us if you would like to update or correct facility information.
