  • Not a fit if: Women or people seeking outpatient-only care; those who want private accommodations or a less structured schedule; and people planning to self-pay.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Admissions assessment: Treatment begins with an assessment to decide what type of treatment or level of care would best fit each client.
  • Creating a care plan: Licensed professionals review mental health, medical, and substance use history so that the treatment team can build a care plan for each client. Clients are also assigned a counselor who helps review care plans based on their needs.
  • Ongoing treatment review: Clients meet with their treatment team for daily huddles to review progress and goals, and treatment teams meet once a week to evaluate client progress and adjust care plans and goals.

Typical schedule

  • Structured residential routine: Clients can expect a highly structured day with regular mealtimes, group meetings, and one-on-one counseling, with a total of about 35-40 hours of weekly programming.
  • Therapy and education options: Clients benefit from individual sessions with addiction and mental health counselors, and group and educational therapy with topics covering relapse prevention, life skills, coping skills, family education, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

Who you will meet with

  • Counselors and mental health staff: Clients work with an addiction counselor and mental health counselor for co-occurring disorder care.
  • Nursing and medical support: Licensed nursing staff help provide medical support during residential treatment.
  • Peer support and discharge planning: Peer support staff and a discharge planner also help clients identify the best next steps after residential care.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Nature-based community setting: The facility is located in a wooded setting, and is designed to promote communal living and collaboration.
  • Shared living spaces: Clients live in shared rooms with one to two roommates, and have access to common areas for reflection, relaxation, and community-building.
  • Outdoor spaces and recreation: The campus features gardens, walking paths, outdoor seating, and recreational options like volleyball, basketball, frisbee gold, and time in the gym.
  • Technology and house policies: Use of personal devices are typically not allowed during the first week of treatment, and smoking and vaping are limited to designated areas.

Aftercare

  • Discharge planning: Towards the end of treatment, clients work with a discharge planner to coordinate aftercare, including connections to outside providers and transportation assistance.
  • Alumni programming: The facility offers an alumni network that helps clients stay connected to support even after treatment

Client Reviews

Clients describe a supportive recovery environment with strong peer connection and staff involvement, especially in counseling and aftercare. At the same time, recurring concerns appear around medical responsiveness, safety of belongings, and consistency in communication.

  • Staff & Care Experience (55% positive): Many clients describe staff as supportive, knowledgeable, and engaged in helping with recovery, paperwork, and life logistics. Others report inconsistent professionalism, with some negative interactions affecting trust and overall experience. "The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable."

Food and overall atmosphere are also praised, though some suggest improvements in cleanliness and upkeep. "It's out in the country with a ton of wildlife."

  • Safety & Personal Belongings: A recurring concern involves missing or stolen items, with mixed feedback on how situations are handled. Some clients recommend using lockers and limiting valuables, while others felt support was lacking when issues arose.
  • Access & Process (40% positive): While some clients report helpful coordination for appointments, transportation, and aftercare planning, others cite unclear communication, or delays, particularly around legal coordination and the intake processes.

How we research treatment facilities

Across the site, our team has conducted over 1,000 pre-admissions calls to better understand the patient experience, interviewed facility clinical leaders, performed facility background checks, and compared our information against trusted public data sources.

Our research process begins with data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), accrediting bodies including The Joint Commission and CARF, government licensing agencies, and other trusted sources. From there, our team conducts significant original research, including:

- Pre-admissions calls: We speak with admissions staff to get a candid picture of patient experience.

- Background checks: We review complaints from past clients, media reports, actions taken by accrediting bodies, and positive recognition from notable organizations.

- Clinical interviews: We have in-depth conversations with clinical leadership, often lasting up to one hour, that give us a better understanding of clinical care.

- Data partnerships: We ingest and analyze exclusive data that provides information about in-network insurance status, cost, and more.

Research varies by facility. Each facility profile shows which research steps we completed and when each step was last performed. Learn more about our research process and background checks.

How we evaluate treatment facilities

These data help us develop a Trust Score for each facility—a simple letter grade that helps you assess how much confidence to place in a facility based on the information available to us. Trust Score considers accreditation, operating history, notable recognition, and concerns identified during our background check. Our Trust Score is an objective rating that is never influenced by advertiser payment. Learn more about our Trust Score methodology.
