Adolescent-focused addiction and mental health treatment

This program is designed specifically for adolescents and teens. Clients can receive focused support for substance use and mental health issues. This includes therapy appropriate for each age group. It can also help to develop coping and communication skills, and offers decision-making practices. Care is designed to help clients address the academic, social, and family challenges that young people face. Treatment goals focus on helping teens build recovery skills and they will have the opportunity to work to improve relationships, enhance emotional wellness, and increase recovery success at home, in school, and in their daily lives.

Multiple outpatient levels of care

Clients can move through multiple levels of outpatient treatment as their needs change. Partial hospitalization includes two three-hour sessions each day, five days a week while IOP has three-hour sessions that run three to five days a week. As individuals improve, they might move to standard outpatient care. This usually involves one to two sessions each week before they are discharged. This step-down approach supports clients as they gradually return to school, family life, and their community while keeping clinical support available during the process.

Family involvement and parent participation

Family members have the opportunity to take an active role in the recovery process. Treatment involves family counseling, individual therapy, and group therapy. This is intended to help improve communication, strengthen parent-child relationships, and tackle challenges that impact the whole family. Parents participate as part of treatment rather than remaining on the sidelines. The goals of treatment are to improve family dynamics, increase support at home, and assist clients and their families in working together for lasting recovery.

Recovery support beyond traditional therapy

Treatment uses proven therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and relapse prevention. It also includes 12-Step recovery principles and spiritual enrichment activities. Recovery support goes beyond traditional therapy. It includes after-school recovery programs and summer camps made just for teens. Clients can receive extra support when they may be otherwise unsupervised. They help build social connections, accountability, and healthy daily routines outside of treatment sessions.

How we research treatment facilities

Across the site, our team has conducted over 1,000 pre-admissions calls to better understand the patient experience, interviewed facility clinical leaders, performed facility background checks, and compared our information against trusted public data sources.

Our research process begins with data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), accrediting bodies including The Joint Commission and CARF, government licensing agencies, and other trusted sources. From there, our team conducts significant original research, including:

- Pre-admissions calls: We speak with admissions staff to get a candid picture of patient experience.

- Background checks: We review complaints from past clients, media reports, actions taken by accrediting bodies, and positive recognition from notable organizations.

- Clinical interviews: We have in-depth conversations with clinical leadership, often lasting up to one hour, that give us a better understanding of clinical care.

- Data partnerships: We ingest and analyze exclusive data that provides information about in-network insurance status, cost, and more.

Research varies by facility. Each facility profile shows which research steps we completed and when each step was last performed. Learn more about our research process and background checks.

How we evaluate treatment facilities

These data help us develop a Trust Score for each facility—a simple letter grade that helps you assess how much confidence to place in a facility based on the information available to us. Trust Score considers accreditation, operating history, notable recognition, and concerns identified during our background check. Our Trust Score is an objective rating that is never influenced by advertiser payment. Learn more about our Trust Score methodology.

A Trust Score is a starting point, not a guarantee of treatment quality or outcomes. Please contact us if you would like to update or correct facility information.
