A mental health residential program for adults that can also accommodate clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns. The small residential setting accommodates roughly 25–30 clients at a time. Clients work with therapists, psychiatrists, case managers, and wellness specialists, attending structured programs during the day. Evening downtime can include access to wellness amenities such as a sensory room, sauna, and cold plunge. Personal electronics are prohibited during treatment, and outside contact is limited. Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adults seeking residential treatment primarily for mental health challenges, including those who also have substance use concerns; needing a highly structured residential environment; wanting access to traditional clinical treatment and psychiatric care combined with wellness; wanting a smaller treatment community; who can tolerate a program with minimal family contact.

  • Not a fit if: Adults who want or need access to personal electronics during treatment; seeking a program that includes regular family participation; whose primary need is substance use treatment rather than mental health treatment.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Beginning steps: The first step is a brief phone assessment that is used to determine if this program is the right fit. Once admitted, clients participate in a more in-depth assessment that will help guide treatment.
  • The first 72 hours: Clients typically meet their care team within the first 72 hours. Each client works with an individual therapist and case manager, who work together to determine which treatment schedule, modalities, and groups fit the client’s needs.
  • Various approaches to treatment: Every care plan is tailored to the client's needs; trauma-informed care is the overarching clinical philosophy, and treatment combines psychotherapy (individual, group, and family therapy), psychiatric care, and holistic approaches.

Who you will meet with

  • Individual therapists: Each client sees an individual therapist at least once a week for individual therapy.
  • Case manager: Case managers work with clients and their therapists to tailor treatment plans and address practical needs.
  • Psychiatrists: Psychiatrists are part of the collaborative care team. They help develop treatment plans alongside clinicians and wellness specialists and may focus on diagnosing and treating mental illness.
  • On-site physician: An on-site physician is available for clients who need support for physical health conditions.
  • Nurse practitioners: These professionals provide support for physical and mental health needs and medication management.
  • Wellness specialists: Another part of the team is wellness specialists, who collaborate with clinicians and psychiatrists to create treatment plans and may organize and lead wellness activities.

Typical schedule

  • Mornings and afternoons: Clients attend structured programming every day from approximately 9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. This includes group sessions and supportive sessions with at least one weekly individual therapy session.
  • Evenings: After 4:30 p.m., clients have downtime, where they can have time for themselves or choose to participate in other activities.

Living experiences and amenities

  • A small residential community: The smaller, more intimate facility accommodates between 25–30 clients at a time. Most clients share a room and attached bathroom with one other client. Private rooms are available for an additional cost.
  • Wellness and holistic amenities: There are many amenities on-site, including a dedicated sensory room, gym, sauna, cold plunge pool, and yoga.
  • Entertainment and downtime: Clients can spend downtime in many ways, including going to the theater, playing ping-pong, or heading to the outdoor patios and relaxation areas.
  • Limited technology: Personal electronics with cameras or that connect to Wi-Fi, including cell phones, are prohibited. Clients have limited outside communication. There’s no in-person visitation, and calls are limited to two 15-minute phone calls per week, Monday through Friday. When clients need to use their phones for tasks, like paying bills, they can arrange to do so under supervision, usually at the nurse’s station. When family therapy is clinically necessary, it is conducted virtually.

Aftercare

  • Discharge: Discharge planning may include referrals to outpatient therapy, psychiatry, or step-down care. Planning may also include scheduling medication-management follow-ups, making safety plans, and coordinating with family.
  • Finding the next level of care: Aftercare planning generally focuses on connecting the client to the next appropriate source or level of care.

Pre-admissions experience

We conducted a series of pre-admissions calls, the most recent on July 26, 2026, to evaluate response time, transparency, and patient experience.

When we spoke with a representative at Arbor Wellness, they provided specific details about treatment, staffing, and the daily schedule. They were extremely transparent about cost, the no-visitation policy, and tech limitations. While we were able to get a lot of information about treatment and the representative was not pushy or salesy, the interaction did not feel overly warm.

Client reviews

Clients frequently describe caring staff, helpful therapy, and a comfortable setting. Some concerns focus on group structure, staffing and management, and communication around admissions, billing, and discharge planning.

  • Staff & care experience (90% positive): Many clients describe therapists, nurses, technicians, and other staff as compassionate and attentive. Some raise concerns about staffing levels, turnover, and management responsiveness. "Everyone was super helpful."
  • Treatment quality & outcomes (90% positive): Clients often say individual therapy and the overall program helped them stabilize or build useful coping skills. A few suggested group sessions, particularly on weekends, could be more structured and substantive. "I completed the program and was very satisfied."
  • Facility & environment (90% positive): Reviews commonly praise the facility and amenities, with some also mentioning enjoyable meals. A smaller group reports concerns about cleanliness, food consistency, or upkeep. "Awesome staff and amenities!"
  • Support & community (90% positive): Clients often value the sense of connection with peers and the opportunity to step away from daily pressures. Some reviews suggest more consistent group facilitation could strengthen that experience. "The therapists were great, it was a nice break from everything to just take time to process and have community."
  • Access & process (75% positive): Some clients describe helpful admissions and care coordination, while a few others report difficulties with communication, insurance or billing clarity, and discharge or aftercare planning.

How we research treatment facilities

Across the site, our team has conducted over 1,000 pre-admissions calls to better understand the patient experience, interviewed facility clinical leaders, performed facility background checks, and compared our information against trusted public data sources.

Our research process begins with data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), accrediting bodies including The Joint Commission and CARF, government licensing agencies, and other trusted sources. From there, our team conducts significant original research, including:

- Pre-admissions calls: We speak with admissions staff to get a candid picture of patient experience.

- Background checks: We review complaints from past clients, media reports, actions taken by accrediting bodies, and positive recognition from notable organizations.

- Clinical interviews: We have in-depth conversations with clinical leadership, often lasting up to one hour, that give us a better understanding of clinical care.

- Data partnerships: We ingest and analyze exclusive data that provides information about in-network insurance status, cost, and more.

Research varies by facility. Each facility profile shows which research steps we completed and when each step was last performed. Learn more about our research process and background checks.

How we evaluate treatment facilities

These data help us develop a Trust Score for each facility—a simple letter grade that helps you assess how much confidence to place in a facility based on the information available to us. Trust Score considers accreditation, operating history, notable recognition, and concerns identified during our background check. Our Trust Score is an objective rating that is never influenced by advertiser payment. Learn more about our Trust Score methodology.
