Who is this facility a good fit for?
Best fit if: Adults who want a structured outpatient program without entering residential treatment; are stepping down from detox or residential treatment; have co-occurring mental health needs requiring regular psychiatric care and medication management; value frequent support from a multidisciplinary treatment team; prefer individualized programming with gender-specific process groups.
Not a fit if: Need 24-hour medical supervision or inpatient care; want a highly flexible outpatient schedule; are unable to commit to a structured daily treatment schedule; prefer self-directed or minimally structured treatment.
What to expect
Developing your care plan
- Intake and assessment: Treatment begins during the intake process. A therapist or the program director conducts an in-depth biopsychosocial assessment to figure out building the right treatment plan for each client.
- Collaborative treatment planning: Care plans are built around clinical assessment findings, input from the full treatment team, and the client's personal recovery goals. Plans evolve during treatment as individual needs change.
Who you will meet with
- Individual therapist and clinical team: An individual therapist is assigned during admission. The therapist and client will meet for a therapy session once a week. Group therapy, continued care plan reassessment, and progress reviews will be done with multiple members of the clinical team.
- Psychiatric care team: Clients will work with psychiatric nurse practitioners during weekly psychiatric evaluations and when medication management is needed. They also continually monitor mental health needs.
- Recovery manager: A dedicated recovery manager is assigned to each client and works with individuals during weekly recovery management sessions and check-ins. They support day-to-day recovery progress outside of formal therapy.
Typical schedule
- PHP: A normal day in PHP usually starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. Until about noon, clients take part in gender-specific process groups, individual counseling sessions, and recovery manager meetings. This is followed by a two-hour lunch break. From about 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. clients can choose between topic-based clinical elective groups that are based on trauma recovery, relapse prevention, and individual treatment needs.
- IOP: Clients attend IOP treatment three hours each evening, Monday through Friday, 4 - 7 p.m. This program serves as the next step for clients completing PHP who need less intensive support.
- Evening: Partial hospitalization clients attend community support meetings, go grocery shopping, and have downtime at their housing. Curfew is 10 p.m.
Aftercare
- Step-down care: Clients who complete PHP step down to IOP to maintain clinical support as they gain more independence.
