Master Center - Harrisonburg
Overview
Outpatient addiction rehab combines therapy, medical care, addiction psychiatry, and one-on-one peer coaching. Clients work with the same medical provider and peer recovery coach throughout treatment. Ambulatory withdrawal management (detox) and medications for addiction treatment (MAT) are available. The intensive outpatient program (IOP) includes four 3-hour group sessions per week, and clients can step down to lower-intensity treatment and weekly therapy groups. In-person and telehealth options let clients attend appointments while maintaining daily responsibilities. Accepts insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid and offers self-pay and flexible payment options.

Doctor-led outpatient program with provider consistency
The program at Master Center uses a five-part model that includes medical care, therapy, addiction psychiatry, recovery coaching, and care coordination. Clients stay with the same medical provider and peer recovery coach throughout treatment rather than seeing different providers at each visit. Monthly care team meetings are held to review progress and make adjustments to care plans. Clients are connected with outside medical, mental health, therapy, and community resources as needed.
Hybrid treatment options for flexibility
Outpatient treatment includes both in-person and telehealth services, giving clients flexibility to attend appointments while continuing to live at home and meet work, school, or family obligations. More than 40 weekly group sessions are offered, giving clients multiple opportunities to attend. The IOP consists of three-hour sessions four times per week, with clients able to step down to less intense care as they progress.
Ambulatory detox and medications for addiction treatment
The clinic provides ambulatory detox services for alcohol and opioid/heroin addiction, which can allow clients to manage withdrawal without having to enter a residential program. Various options are available for MAT; however, the facility does not prescribe methadone.
Groups for specific experiences and identities
The large selection of weekly groups covers different topics and approaches rather than focusing on a single format. Specialized groups are available for veterans, health professionals, men, and women. This variety can help clients find support relevant to their specific challenges rather than attending groups with a broad focus. Individual counseling sessions are also available when appropriate.
Extended recovery support
Clients work with a dedicated peer recovery coach with lived experience who provides guidance, encouragement, and help accessing resources. The clinic also offers a sustained recovery program that focuses on recognizing early warning signs and practicing relapse-prevention strategies. Family and friends can also participate in treatment through a four-part Zoom educational series or a six-week counselor-led group therapy program.
