Step-down outpatient treatment

During PHP, clients live at home or in sober living while attending daily programming at the center. Along with clinical therapy, they learn and practice life skills such as self-care, cooking, and cleaning to prepare them for greater independence. In IOP, clients attend sessions several days a week in shorter timespans. This can give them more freedom to attend to work and family responsibilities. Regular outpatient sessions are the least frequent and allow for the most flexibility. Clients can step up or down between care levels as they make progress in their recovery or face challenges. Staff can also connect them with detox, residential treatment, and medications for addiction treatment (MAT) when needed.

Therapeutic outdoor adventures

Adventure therapy and experiential activities are key to the center’s treatment approach. Staff take clients on weekly hikes in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Other activities include ropes courses, ziplining, canoeing, rafting, rock climbing, horticulture, and forest bathing. These experiences combine with clinical therapy to give clients a chance to relax, get physical exercise, and connect with nature and each other.

Addressing trauma with proven methods and holistic care

The center highlights trauma-informed care to help clients with a complicated background get to the root of their symptoms and address the feelings and mental states behind them. These include evidence-based DBT, EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and motivational interviewing in both individual and group settings. Holistic practices include breathwork, Qi Gong acupuncture, art therapy, mindfulness, and drumming.

Aftercare support

Aftercare at Oasis Recovery Center is designed to continue for as long as a client needs and desires it to address their ongoing progress and goals. Clients can continue to participate in individual therapy, as they can be referred to local therapists and other types of clinicians. Family members can also participate in follow-up counseling when appropriate. An alumni community provides access to private in-person and online support groups, as well as reunions and fun sober events.
