Insight Program Cary offers intensive outpatient programs (IOP) for adolescents ages 13-17 and young adults ages 18-25. Treatment is based on an “enthusiastic sobriety” philosophy designed to make recovery fun for youth. Loved ones can attend weekly parent support groups. Treatment designed for teens and young adults

The center’s IOP programs and support groups are tailored to the age-specific needs of young people. The approach includes a strong emphasis on building healthy peer relationships. At the beginning of the program, care staff help customize the program for each client. Topics discussed during group and individual counseling sessions include coping skills for emotions and modern influences such as social media, building self-esteem, managing anxiety and depression, and relapse prevention.

“Enthusiastic sobriety” and 12-step approach

Insight Program’s “enthusiastic sobriety” outlook encourages young people to find ways to enjoy life without drugs and alcohol. This includes bringing clients together and facilitating space for new friendships. Evening 12-step groups are adapted for each age group. Clients can be paired with a peer recovery coach to help guide them through meetings and steps. Sober social events on Friday and Saturday nights provide frequent opportunities for peer connection.

Support for families

Family engagement is a core part of the treatment approach. Parents and loved ones can join teens and young adults for family therapy sessions, and parent support groups are held weekly. This gives parents a chance to receive counseling and substance use education, and opportunities for connection with other adults facing similar struggles.

Immersive aftercare

After clients successfully complete an IOP program, they can participate in up to three months of aftercare. Offerings include biweekly meetings, weekly counseling, two 12-step meetings per week, and two weekly sober social events sponsored by staff. Counselors can also help youth create individually adapted plans for long-term recovery success.

When we reached out to the Insight Program, the admissions team was knowledgeable and provided detailed information. They walked us through programs, step-down transitions, and treatment expectations. The conversation felt warm and professional, with clear explanations around cost and client involvement.
